Before Ardent Coffee Export was officially established in 2017, its story had already begun many years earlier—in the heart of its founder, Ashenafi Argaw.
For Ashenafi, coffee has never been just a business. It is a lifelong passion, a purpose, and a calling.
Born and raised in Sidama, one of Ethiopia's most renowned coffee-growing regions, Ashenafi developed a deep connection with coffee from an early age. Under the guidance of his grandparents, he learned the fundamentals of coffee farming, harvesting, and processing long before he entered the global coffee industry. Those early experiences instilled in him a profound respect for the people, traditions, and craftsmanship behind every cup of Ethiopian coffee.
Since 2002, Ashenafi has built more than two decades of international experience across Ethiopia, the United States, and Central America, working with some of the world's most respected coffee companies. Throughout his career, he has developed expertise in coffee production, quality control, sourcing, exporting, international trade, and building lasting partnerships across the global specialty coffee supply chain.
Today, Ashenafi is recognized as one of Ethiopia's leading coffee professionals. His vision extends far beyond exporting exceptional coffee. He is committed to creating value for coffee farmers, delivering excellence to customers, and transforming lives through sustainable business and meaningful social impact.
