Ethiopian coffee history lesson from retired cooperative commissioner Haile Gebre for 3 hours. Gash Haile is an icon in coffee cooperative movement in Ethiopia. He played a key role in legislative reform on cooperatives in 1999 with Tadesse Meskela, which is the biggest policy success in the history of cooperative movement in the country. Today, I learned from him on how Ethiopian coffee market structure evolved during the three past and current regime periods: King, Derg, and EPRDF. Obviously, we can learn a lot from history. As the old saying goes, “… those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it”. #EthiopianCoffee, #Coffee, #Motherland
