Washing Station — The Heart of Ardent
Sidama Bensa is where Ardent's journey truly began. Known for its high altitudes and unique microclimates, this region produces some of the most vibrant and complex coffees in Ethiopia. Our presence here is deep-rooted, working alongside thousands of smallholder farmers to capture the distinct floral and citrus notes that define Bensa specialty coffee.

FIRST PREPARATION
Bensa Warehouse
PRIMARY ROLE — First-Round Coffee Milling
Located close to our Sidama production network, the Bensa warehouse serves as the first stage of dry-mill preparation after coffee leaves the washing stations. Bringing this initial milling step closer to origin allows Ardent to manage coffee more efficiently while maintaining lot separation and quality control before it moves forward in the supply chain.

PRIMARY ROLE — Green Coffee Storage & Lot Management
Our Hawassa warehouse provides an important storage and consolidation point within Ardent's coffee network. Coffees arriving from our production areas are carefully organized and maintained by lot, creating an efficient bridge between origin processing and final export preparation.

At Ardent's Gelan processing and export facility in Addis Ababa, coffees enter their final stage of preparation before shipment. Here, final milling, cleaning, screen grading, gravity separation, color sorting, quality control, lot preparation, and specialized packaging are brought together within one coordinated operation. By managing these critical final steps ourselves, Ardent maintains greater control over consistency, preparation, traceability, and shipment readiness.
Processing at the washing station is only the beginning. Once coffee has been carefully dried and prepared at origin, it moves through Ardent's warehousing, milling, quality-control, and export-preparation system.
